Routine Fire Hydrant Flushing in Avery - 20 Feb at 8:19 am

The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) will begin routine fire hydrant flushing in Avery beginning February 20, 2024.

Routine flushing of the water Distribution System is an effective way to accomplish multiple water supply related objectives. It improves water quality by removing naturally occurring minerals that can collect in the water mains and laterals, it provides an understanding of water supply, flow, and pressure under different operating conditions, it allows Staff to exercise valves and operate appurtenances thereby improving their reliability, and it provides critical operational information to the District’s Engineering Department. These recognized benefits allow for cost effective and efficient changes to operational efforts and to the design of system improvements.

Residents can expect to see signs posted alerting them to the work effort. Traffic impacts will be minimal.
