As of 2 p.m. Thursday, water service has been restored to between 100 and 150 CCWD customers who live in Camp Connell in the area of Meko Drive. Because the leak drained a significant amount of water from the District’s storage tank in the area, customers are asked to use water sparingly for the rest of the day to allow the tank to be refilled.

At around 8 a.m. on January 25, CCWD was made aware there was a leak in the water transmission line in Camp Connell. The leak caused customers in the area to experience low water pressure. After CCWD crews located the leak on Meko Drive under the snow, they made an emergency repair to a section of Techite transmission line.

When construction crews perform emergency pipeline repairs, it can cause mineral buildup to dislodge from the inside walls of the pipe and cause water to become discolored. However, it’s important to remember that even if the water is discolored, it is completely safe to drink and poses no health risk. If customers experience discolored water and would like to flush their personal plumbing systems to remove the discolored water, they can turn on an outside faucet at the lowest point of their properties and let it run until the water turns clear.

CCWD crews are actively flushing the systems this afternoon using hydrants to remove discolored water, but it may take some time until the water color returns to normal. Until the water runs clear, the District recommends that customers avoid washing loads of laundry, especially if the clothes are white and bleach is being used.
