The Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) is pleased to announce Rebecca Callen has been hired as the District’s Director of Administrative Services. Ms. Callen is a graduate of Bret Harte High School and an Angels Camp resident who served as the Calaveras County Auditor-Controller for the past nine years. In her new role at CCWD, Ms. Callen will oversee the District’s Finance and IT departments and will be an important part of the management team. Her first day at CCWD will be Monday October 21.

“This is one of the most important jobs at CCWD, and I have every confidence that her performance will be quite excellent,” said CCWD Board President, Russ Thomas. “I’m glad she’s on our team.”

Ms. Callen graduated from California State University, Chico, in 1996 with a bachelor of science in business administration and option in strategic management. From 1997 to 2001, she worked for Barclays Global Investors in Sacramento. In 2001, she began working for her family business, Wayne and Son Automotive, Inc., in Angels Camp and has continued working there in various capacities for the past 18 years. In 2006, she was hired as an Accountant Auditor I at the Calaveras County Auditor-Controller’s Office. From 2006 to 2011, she held various positions at the Government Center, including in the Elections and Technology Services Departments. In 2011, she was elected as the Calaveras County Auditor Controller and served in that role until September 2019.

“I am really excited that Rebecca Callen will be joining our team,” said CCWD General Manager, Michael Minkler. “CCWD is building a lot of positive momentum toward becoming a more efficient and innovative water agency and a talented chief financial officer is critical in that effort. Rebecca has the skill set we need and a proven track record for courageous leadership and creative problem-solving. I expect she will be a tremendous asset for CCWD for many years to come.”
