Update 2:30 p.m.: Water Service has been restored to customers in Copperopolis.

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, Calaveras County Water District crews were working to repair a water leak on Feather Drive in Copperopolis. This leak has caused residents who live on Feather Drive and in Sequoia, Morado or Iriquois Circles to experience a disruption in their water service. The District estimates the leak will be repaired and water service restored no later than 3 p.m. Thursday.

After leak repairs, it is common for residents to experience discolored water. It’s important to remember that even if the water is discolored, it is completely safe to drink and poses no health risk. However, the District recommends that customers avoid washing loads of laundry using bleach when experiencing discolored water, because it can lead to clothing being stained. CCWD staff members will flush the main water system using fire hydrants to help remove any discolored water that may exist. If customers do experience discolored water and would like to flush their personal plumbing systems, they can turn on an outside faucet at the lowest point of their properties and let it run until the water turns clear.

Those with questions or concerns about this leak repair may contact the CCWD Customer Service Department at 209-754-3543 or email customerservice@ccwd.org.
